The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decides the policy repo rate. The MPC has six members: three from the RBI and three external members appointed by the Government. It meets at least four times a year.

Since 2017, the Union Budget of India has been presented on 1 February, replacing the earlier practice of presenting it on the last working day of February.
